In the Heart of Veneto, Where Tradition Lives
Cities of Art

Nestled in the restorative tranquillity of Montegrotto Terme, our hotel is the perfect starting point for discovering the artistic wonders of Padua, Venice, Treviso, Vicenza, and Verona. Timeless cities of art, easily reachable by car or train, await you with their invaluable cultural heritage.

The Terme Euganee railway station is just 500 metres from the hotel, served by the Venice–Bologna line. This provides great convenience for reaching nearby Padua in only 10 minutes, or arriving in the centre of Venice in 40 minutes by train, allowing you to enjoy one of the most beautiful and romantic cities in the world.

Padua

Padua is Urbs Picta, a UNESCO World Heritage site for its 14th-century frescoes painted by Giotto, Guariento, Giusto de’ Menabuoi, Altichiero da Zevio, Jacopo Avanzi, and Jacopo da Verona across seven different sites, the most famous and admired being the Scrovegni Chapel, entirely frescoed by Giotto.

Padua is also known as the city of “three withouts”: the square without grass, the Saint without a name, the café without doors. Not to be missed is Prato della Valle (the square without grass), the largest square in Europe, especially vibrant on Saturdays during the market. The nearby Basilica of Saint Anthony (the Saint without a name) attracts devotees from all over the world. The Caffè Pedrocchi (the café without doors, open 24/7 in the 19th century), located in the pedestrian city centre, is worth a visit for a coffee or its famous Spritz. The magnificent Botanical Garden, also a UNESCO site, is the oldest in the world; its four bioclimatic greenhouses host species from across the globe. The city squares, where students of one of Italy’s oldest universities gather, are lively and full of energy. Palazzo della Ragione, with its historic shops “under the Hall” and the noble floor, is a highlight. We also recommend visiting Palazzo del Bo, the historic university, to see Galileo’s teaching chair and the wooden anatomical theatre, where autopsies were performed for medical students.

Venice

The most beautiful city in the world, Venice is romantic, evocative, and unique. You can follow the crowds from the railway station through narrow streets and over bridges to the famous St. Mark’s Square, or lose yourself in the narrow alleys with scenic canal views, opening onto lively squares and the traditional bacari taverns. For a truly romantic experience, enjoy a gondola ride to admire Venice from a completely different perspective.

Take a water taxi/vaporetto to visit Murano, famous for its artistic glassworks, Burano with its colourful houses, and the tranquil Torcello, where time seems to stand still. Lido di Venezia, with its beaches and exclusive hotels, hosts the Venice Film Festival, attracting enthusiasts and film stars alike.

Chioggia, also known as “Little Venice,” is a fishing village reachable by bike in a day.

Vicenza

Known as the city of Palladio and a UNESCO site, Vicenza enchants with elegant Renaissance architecture. There are 23 Palladian monuments, including the Basilica Palladiana, the Teatro Olimpico, and Villa La Rotonda, masterpieces of the renowned architect. Walking through historic palaces and harmonious squares, one breathes timeless elegance—a true jewel of art and culture.

Verona

Romantic and evocative, Verona captivates with its UNESCO-listed historic centre, the iconic Juliet’s Balcony, and the imposing Roman Arena. In summer, the Arena becomes a unique open-air stage, hosting grand operas under the stars. From Castelvecchio to Piazza delle Erbe, every corner tells centuries of history and beauty. The experience can be enriched with a stroll along Lake Garda or a return to the hotel via Valpolicella, a land of excellent wines.

Treviso

With its canals, arcades, and elegant atmosphere, Treviso is a discreet gem of authentic charm. Its “Marca Gioiosa” stretches across gentle hills, historic villages, and the greenery of Montello, perfect for nature excursions. At the heart of the Prosecco region, it offers exceptional wine and gastronomic experiences—a territory to savour slowly, just a short distance from Montegrotto Terme.
